Due to its ability in combining remarkable handling, roominess, family-oriented practicality, and robust engines in one great package, the Pilot has reigned as one of the best mid-sized crossover SUVs around. For the 2019 model year, the Pilot received a facelift to refresh it as it continues with its third production cycle. The 2019 Pilot is split into LX, EX, EX-L, Touring, and Elite trims.
Exterior - 2019 Honda Pilot
The 2019 Honda Pilot includes LED low-beam headlights with the ability to turn on or off automatically in reaction to the amount of outdoor light. Other standard features on the crossover vehicle include power side mirrors and a rear spoiler. The EX is enhanced with the addition of LED fog lights, as well as heating ability and LED turn-signal indicators on the side mirrors. Upgrade to the EX-L to get a power liftgate and a one-touch tilt-enabled power moonroof. On the Touring, roof rails are added, and the side mirrors are linked to the aforementioned memory system with a reverse gear tilt-down function. And on the Elite, the side mirrors are further enhanced with auto-dimming and power-folding abilities, and a panoramic roof joins the power moonroof and roof rails.
Interior - 2019 Honda Pilot near Moline IL
Although the 2019 Honda Pilot is designed as a three-row vehicle, maximum occupancy and total passenger volume vary by trim. The Elite can accommodate up to seven people due to the second row comprising a pair of captain's chairs; on the other trims, there's a second-row bench-style seat to accommodate one more passenger, thus pushing up the maximum capacity to eight. (The Touring offers the choice between a seven-seater and eight-seater.) Notably, the Elite, at 153.1 cubic feet, has the most passenger space; the LX and EX supply 152.9 cubic feet and the EX-L and Touring provide 151.7 cubic feet. Front-seat heating, 10-way power adjustability and power lumbar support for the driver's seat, and one-touch second-row seats are added on the EX. A two-position memory system for the driver's seat and side mirrors, leather seat trim, and 4-way power on the front passenger seat appear on the EX-L. On the Touring, heating is extended to the rear seats, and if you opt for the captain's chairs-similar to the Elite-they will be heated, ventilated, and treated with perforated leather. (These attributes are extended to the Elite's front seats.) Standard comfort and convenience features on the Pilot include cruise control, push-button engine start, a USB port and audio jack for connecting mobile devices, a USB charging-only port, Bluetooth® wireless technology for hands-free phone operation and audio streaming, seven-speaker 215-watt audio, and a 5-inch color LCD screen.
On the EX you will also get tri-zone automatic climate control, remote engine start, smart entry system. The Pilot at the EX-L trim level is further enhanced by a garage-door opener, auto-dimming ability on the rearview mirror, leather wrapping on the steering wheel, two additional USB charging-only ports, an 8-inch display screen, hands-free text-messaging, Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ for smartphone integration, HD Radio™, and a trial subscription to SiriusXM® satellite radio. Added on the Touring are a satellite-linked navigation system and HondaLink® for remote connectivity, and the seven-speaker system is replaced with a 10-speaker 590-watt premium stereo system with multi-zone audio. New for 2019 is CabinControl™, which is standard on all trims but the LX and turns your smartphone into a remote control for all your infotainment functions. Also new for this model year are the CabinTalk™ in-car PA system (on the EX-L and higher), and a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot and a 10.2-inch-screen entertainment system with a Blu-Ray player (on the Touring and Elite). The Elite is the only model with wireless phone charging capability and a heated steering wheel.
Mechanical - Pilot specs near Moline IL
For absorbing the turbulence resulting from less-than-smooth surfaces, the 2019 Honda Pilot uses a MacPherson strut front suspension and a multi-link rear suspension, both of which are accompanied by stabilizer bars. Electric power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering is for sharp and precise turns, and four-wheel power-assisted disc brakes are for optimizing stopping ability.
Powertrain - Honda Pilot specs near Moline IL
The workhorse on the 2019 Pilot is a 3.5-liter V6 that produces 280 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque. On the LX, EX, and EX-L, the engine is hitched to a 6-speed automatic transmission. On the upper-level Touring and Elite, the V6 is paired with a 9-speed automatic gearbox with paddle shifters. Also, idle stop technology is added on the Touring and Elite to boost fuel efficiency via the elimination of engine idling. If you go with any trim but the Elite, you can choose between front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive; the all-wheel drivetrain is standard on the Elite. All trims above the base-level LX has an intelligent traction management system to optimize driving performance in the snow when armed with front-wheel drive. Traction management is expanded to sand and mud if you go with the all-wheel-drive system instead.
